Teeming with biodiversity, the Mediterranean Sea supports more than 17,000 different species, making magnificent Mallorca in the western Mediterranean a special place to focus on sustainability. Here, where Marine Protected Areas abound, you will learn firsthand about marine organisms and their interactions with coastal and marine ecosystems.
Join expert ecologists and biologists for an immersive program that blends science, culture, and adventure on the island of Mallorca. In class, in the lab, and out in the field, you’ll observe nature, inventory species, and monitor habitats to better understand how marine pollution and human activity impact fragile ecosystems. Along the way, you’ll discover key species under threat and learn how you can make a difference.
Beyond research, the program offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the Mediterranean lifestyle. Swim, snorkel, kayak, paddleboard, and join in a game of beach volleyball. Experience authentic island life by staying with a local homestay family, practicing your Spanish, and connecting with local teens during group meet-ups.
