The UMass Amherst Summer Pre-College: Introduction to Business course gives students a comprehensive look at how companies operate and make decisions in today’s global economy. This broad-based, exploratory course introduces essential business disciplines—management, marketing, accounting, finance, operations, and economics—alongside topics in entrepreneurship, start-ups, and globalization.
Students will also explore how technology drives innovation and shapes business strategy in the 21st century. Through a mix of real-time online sessions, team-based activities, and individual exploration, participants gain a practical understanding of how different business functions work together for success.
