    About This Course

    Begin with wireframes and programs like Figma to explore and perfect your interactions before you get to a final application. As you progress through the various stages of the design process you'll bring in more tools and hardware, working your way up to Unity. By the time you get into Unity and see all the features it provides, you'll be well prepared to think through the design process and hit the ground running. With curriculum designed and delivered by NYU's world-renowned faculty and industry experts and all the magic of our legendary camps, you’ll build in-demand skills, work in an environment with motivated learners from around the world, and have a blast boosting your portfolio with an official certificate.

    For the best experience, your teen will need a VR-capable device (not included). The curriculum focuses on the Meta Quest 2.

    In this course you will:

    • Understand key UX/UI concepts and how to think like a designer
    • Build application prototypes using figma, Adobe XD, Unity, and more
    • Create engaging user interactions in VR, AR, and XR (extended reality) applications
    • Design, iterate, and implement UI components
    • Develop a portfolio to share with potential universities or employers

    Sample Schedule

    Sessions 1-5: Fundamentals of UX and Prototype Designs
    Learn the fundamentals of UI and UX, and create wireframes for your projects using websites like Figma, Miro, and Marvel POP. Research user experiences and gain feedback from your classmates and instructors on how to improve your work and best design for your intended audience. Start to learn about VR and AR experiences. Prototype interfaces and add sound and interactivity using Adobe XD and Audacity.

    Sessions 6-10: VR and AR Project Development in Unity
    Design concepts for VR and AR experiences, and learn the fundamentals of Unity to start creating your prototype. Develop an AR or VR experience using Unity as your final project for this semester. Test Unity projects with classmates and implement feedback to enhance and polish your project. Pitch the experience you designed to your instructor and peers.

    Earn Certification

    Upon successful completion of this course, NYU Tandon School of Engineering grants a certificate of completion to participants. This course is graded as a pass or fail; students must receive 75% to pass and obtain the certificate of completion.

    Supercharge your teen’s school year with an online group class meeting once a week for 10 weeks! For maximum flexibility, you can choose the ideal day of week and time to learn—perfect for teens juggling multiple after-school activities! Each two-hour session includes a live instructor, individual attention, and access to exclusive curriculum. Office hours are included for further help and personalized guidance.

    Summer 2023: Daily for 2 Weeks
    Maximize your teen’s summer learning with an online group class meeting Monday-Friday for two weeks! This focused schedule will help them boost their resume as quickly as possible, with plenty of summer left for travel, hangouts with friends, and other favorite activities. Each two-hour session includes a live instructor, individual attention, and access to exclusive curriculum. Office hours are included for further help and personalized guidance.
