In addition to camera basics, students will learn about working with lighting, microphones and editing programs. Daily opportunities to perform on camera, review the takes and have one’s work critiqued are supplemented with script analysis and discussions on crafting strong acting choices.
Applications for Summer 2026 open on November 15 and close on March 15.
Under the guidance of LMU faculty, who are longtime professional actors, students will explore the techniques used to craft performances for the camera, with a focus on film, television, and web series. Activities include filming silent scenes, monologues, and scenes from films shot with one or two student partners. Students will have the chance to participate in the editing process to learn how editing can affect the final product of their performance.
