    Overview

Learn the full 3D character modeling pipeline for games and animation. Using AI tools and professional software, students will design and model high-quality CG characters while developing skills in anatomy, form, and digital sculpting. This hands-on, project-based course combines lectures, demonstrations, and one-on-one training—no prior experience required.

In this hands-on, project-based course, students will be introduced to the character pipeline for games and animation, focusing on modeling a high-quality CG base character of their own design. The course blends artistic creativity with technical skill, teaching students to use AI tools and professional 3D graphics software to conceptualize and model compelling digital characters.

Students will gain experience in character anatomy, structure, and 3D design, while learning the core principles that define high-quality CG character models—contour layout, form, abstraction, and design refinement. Professional software will be demonstrated and explored both from a user’s perspective and a software engineer’s point of view, giving students insight into how 3D graphics tools function at a deeper level.

The course employs a mix of short lectures, project demonstrations, and personalized training, helping students build confidence in manipulating and visualizing 3D data—valuable skills for both graphic engineers and digital artists. While prior experience with tools such as Photoshop or Maya is helpful, it is not required.

Eligible students will find prior understanding of industry software and modeling tools to be helpful, but it is not required to join.
