Summer Academy
The Summer Academy is a high school pre-college program for rising grades 9-12. The program is held as two one-week intensives in June and July. Courses are taught by Centenary University Professors. Select programs taught by industry professionals.
Summer Academy: AP Chemistry
Learn about the concepts of chemistry including properties and states of matter, chemical compounds, bonds, quantities, reactions, and equations. There are hands-on lab investigations and chemical calculation practices.
Skills Students will Learn:
- Designing experiments and procedures to test a theory.
- Collecting data and presenting in tables, and graphs with calculations
- How to read and write a chemical formula.
- Balancing a chemical equation
- How to identify chemical reactions
- Using valence electron information for chemical bonds.
- How to calculate moles and other chemical quantities.
