    Overview

The Sustainable Energy Engineering (SEE) course will give you the fundamental knowledge necessary to understand the challenges and opportunities in sustainable energy engineering, and to decide whether this is a field you want to pursue. Enroll in this advanced engineering course to understand energy sources, energy storage and transfer, and the impact of social and political factors on sustainable energy today and beyond.

In this course, we will explore fundamental questions about energy: Where does the energy we consume ultimately go? Can we design and implement sustainable technologies that are resilient, cost-effective, and compatible with the existing power grid? Together, we will investigate strategies to reduce energy use, examine current patterns of consumption, and study the science and engineering that underpin energy production and distribution. We will also consider the critical role of policy in shaping our ability to implement meaningful change, connecting technical innovation with real-world impact.

    Eligibility:

Students must be current high school students or recent high school graduates.??Talented rising sophomores may be considered; however, priority will be given to older students. Graduated seniors are also eligible to participate during the summer before they begin their college career.

Participants must be at least 15 years of age on move-in day and no older than 17 years of age on the last day of the program. We cannot accept students who turn 18 before the final day of the course in a residential program. You must be under 18 years of age to live in the residence hall.
