    Overview

Turn your summer into a global adventure! Summer is the perfect time to study abroad in high school—no need to miss out on your school year back home. From two-week cultural deep dives to two-month language-learning journeys, our summer programs let you explore new countries, connect with new friends, and see the world through a whole new lens. Big experiences. Lifelong memories. All in one summer.

AFS-USA summer study abroad programs bring together high school students from around the world who are eager to explore new cultures and make meaningful connections. Depending on the program, participants may live with a welcoming host family, stay in dorms, or be housed in group accommodations—all offering safe, enriching environments that support cultural immersion. Whether attending classes, joining local activities, or exploring regional traditions, students experience life in a new culture firsthand. These short-term programs offer big impact—helping students see the world from new perspectives while gaining a deeper understanding of themselves and the communities they call home.
