Syracuse University Summer College offers high school students entering their junior or senior year the opportunity to explore college majors and experience college life with credit and noncredit programs along with commuter and residential options.
Summer College has something to offer everyone with more than 25 programs and 50 courses to choose from. All programs and courses are college-level and led by Syracuse University faculty. With course ranging from Acting & Musical Theater to Writing at the College Level, Syracuse University's Summer College for High School Students offers a variety of programs that reflect the richness and diversity of the majors and minors at Syracuse University. Both noncredit and college credit-bearing programs are offered, and run at different lengths (6-week programs, 3-week programs, and 2-week programs).
All 6-week program courses are college-level, college credit-bearing courses. Students earn up to seven college credits. Programs and courses are offered in many areas of study and in two enrollment types: programs/courses that are exclusive to Summer College students and programs/courses that are open to both Summer College students and SU students. Students are enrolled in two courses, the exception being Architecture, due to the number of studio hours. Course options include: Architecture; Engineering; Forensic Science; Liberal Arts; Media Literacy, Popular Culture & Democracy; Presentational Speaking; Public Communications; and Writing at the College Level.
Summer College also offers a 3-week noncredit session in Acting & Musical Theater that enables students to gain college-level exposure to the theater arts, develop more confidence in preparation for their college auditions, and work towards an end-of-program exhibition of student work.
Additionally, Summer College provides 2-week options that enable students to gain many of the benefits of the 6-week experience in a shorter format. All programs work with University faculty and instructors and have an intensive schedule in each area of study. Here are this summer's exciting offerings:
