    Overview

The Walden Woods Project preserves the land, literature and legacy of Henry David Thoreau to foster an ethic of environmental stewardship and social responsibility. The Project achieves this mission through the integration of conservation, education, research and advocacy.

The Walden Woods Project is always grateful to the many people who volunteer their time by working on The Farm, building and maintaining our trails, completing administrative projects for the organization, and making our public events and programs run smoothly. Opportunities to volunteer for individuals and groups come up throughout the year, including in The Walden Woods Project Library and the Education Department.
Some of the many volunteer opportunities available at The Walden Woods Project Library are:
    • Scanning historical documents or photographs
    • Proof-reading of electronic texts
    • Clerical work: photocopying, de-stapling, alphabetizing, arranging, filing
    • Shelf-reading
    • Indexing
    • Transcribing manuscript material
    • And more!
