On The Rise: Volunteer Recently Updated

On The Rise is a day program in Boston, MA that is uniquely effective at working with homeless and formerly-homeless women who do not fit the requirements of other programs. On The Rise’s work begins with individuals experiencing homelessness, and continues if and when they secure housing.  From our origin as a women’s organization, our programs have evolved toward inclusion of those historically and structurally oppressed on the basis of gender.

While On The Rise does not invite individuals from the community to work directly with program participants, we offer projects and ways to be involved that demonstrate to women and trans/nonbinary individuals, who often feel shunned by society, that the broader community is concerned for their well-being. 

On The Rise invites groups and individuals to volunteer on the first Saturday of the month. Your efforts help preserve a dignified space for the women to enjoy each day. We will work on various projects in and around our beautiful home that may include:

• General grounds clean-up
• Garden work
• Sorting and organizing clothing
• Arts and crafts
• Preparation for special events
• Sorting toiletries
• Research and computer work
• Handy work
• Small cooking projects, and other "to do’s" that are needed as the seasons change.
