This camp is great for older horse-crazy kids, no matter their level of experience! We assess campers’ horseback riding skills and form groups based on ability, each with eight or fewer kids.
Horsemanship Camp campers are placed into groups of 8 or less based on their riding abilities.
Beginners learn to walk, steer, trot—posting, sitting and half-seat, the basics of cantering and going over poles and small jumps.
Intermediate campers will work on position—balanced seat, cantering in groups, cantering poles, jumping higher fences and riding in the field.
Advanced campers will also work on position— cantering and hand galloping in groups, jumping a course of larger fences, riding without stirrups and lateral movements.Weather permitting campers will experience trail riding as well.
All campers will groom and tack the horse they ride. Riders will learn the basics of good horse health care.
