    Overview

Every summer, over 40 undergraduate college students are invited to spend ten weeks conducting mentored research in a cancer research laboratory at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The goal of the program is to engage scientific curiosity in the next generation of scientists, challenging qualified undergraduates to consider a cancer-related career in the future.

What to know about the Cancer Research Experience for Undergraduates:

    • Fellows work full-time for approximately ten weeks during the summer.
    • Fellows may not combine their research work with other significant work commitments or daytime class work.
    • Stipends are paid in biweekly installments through direct deposit as fellows complete their program requirements.
    • A housing allowance may be provided on an as-needed basis. The CREU/DICR team will send housing options and information to accepted fellows.

Students must participate in the one-hour orientation at the start of the program. Over the course of the ten weeks, students will work with their mentor on developing their research project, attend twice weekly lectures as well as half-day clinical/translational workshops, receive career mentoring, and pesent a poster session.
