    Overview

An immersive service-oriented program focused on giving back to the Caribbean community. Students will work on a myriad of socially conscious projects that will both educate and help mitigate threats to the environment and community of the British Virgin Islands.

On Foxtrot students will learn about the threats to our oceans and take action to protect the marine ecosystem. Students will work alongside our staff to monitor the health of local reefs, submitting the findings to the University of Queensland Coral Watch survey.

During the program, students will learn about the life cycle and ecology of the sea turtle species that inhabit the British Virgin Islands. Sail Caribbean has a long history of working with the BVI Department of Conservation and Fisheries on their efforts to protect the local sea turtle population. Students will learn how to measure and handle turtles as well as recording data to help monitor their endangered populations.
