    Overview

The Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications at Penn State University offers students a fully immersive, creative experience in our state-of-the-art studios for students to bring their stories to life. Led by industry professionals and experienced Penn State faculty, these week-long camps feature hands-on experiences for students interested in Visual Storytelling, Social Media & Content Creation, Broadcast Journalism, and Film Production.

Visual Storytelling will teach students to explore extraordinary local stories by forming connections with the quiet lives of real people. Students will work to create beautifully photographed, memorable visual stories that center around empathy, an ability to make human connections and, most importantly, allow students to develop personal vision and critical thinking skills. During the sessions, students work on specific elements of craft, including camera basics, lighting, approaches to documentary production, and building relationships as trusted storytellers. This opportunity allows students to take advantage of big school resources to produce small town stories in sessions led by prize-winning industry professionals and experienced Penn State faculty.

    Cost and Session Information

Early registration for the camp is $1500. The cost of the camp is $1700 per camper, inclusive of room and board for the full week of camp. No payment is due at the time of application.
