The Filmmaking & Media Production Exploration Academy offers students the opportunity to learn about the many jobs available in creating content for film, television & streaming. Students work together in a hands-on, supportive environment under the guidance of an award-winning filmmaker with extensive experience in the film and music industries. Students will have the opportunity to meet Champlain alumni working in the industry.
By the end of the Academy, students will have a greater understanding of what it means to work in film and where their passions lie within the filmmaking process.
In the Filmmaking & Media Production Exploration Academy, students will:
- Learn about the wide variety of jobs available in film and media production - from writing, editng and producing to production design, conducting interviews, and directing actors
- Collaborate with other students who share the same passion for film, television, and streaming media
- Explore different genres of filmmaking from streaming drama, to experimental, documentary, and comedy films
- Film with professional level camera, sound, and lighting equipment
- Learn to write and edits using Final Draft Screenwriting software and Premiere Pro Editing software
- Develop a portfolio piece to highlight your skills and interests
The Academy also offers time each day for students to relax with new friends. Students will get outside and enjoy green space on campus, enjoy a movie night or a game night and enjoy a day trip to one of our many nearby natural spaces. Located on the shores of Lake Champlain in beautiful Burlington, Vermont, Champlain College's Pre-College Summer Programs provide students with a robust learning environment and the opportunity to make new connections with peers and faculty who have shared interests.
This all-inclusive package includes:
- Instruction

All students who attend a Pre-College Academy and then enroll as an undergraduate student will be eligible for the Visit Scholarship – $1,000 per year for a total of $4,000.
