Kankakee Community College was organized in October 1966 by a group of citizens concerned with providing a post-secondary educational resource for the people of the Kankakee area. Today, KCC is an educational, vocational, and recreational center for Community College District 520.
Kankakee Community College is a two-year college awarding associate degrees, associate in Applied Science degrees and certificates of completion in its College Credit Division. Students attend KCC both to prepare to transfer to four-year institutions and complete bachelor's degrees and to prepare to enter the job market directly from KCC. Kankakee Community College also offers non-degree programs to meet a variety of community needs, including workforce development and remedial development, through its office of Continuing Education and Career Services and its Division of Adult and Community Education.
