    Sports Broadcasting Summer Programs

Pre-college students can combine their passions for journalism and organized athletics by enrolling in a Sports Broadcasting Summer Program. These programs, typically hosted by colleges and universities, prepare students for college by introducing them to campus life and teaching them fundamentals of the sports broadcasting industry, such as story idea generation, game preparation, interviewing, script writing, camera work, video/audio editing and on-air presentation. Faculty and professional instructors provide classroom education as well as guidance for in-the-field reporting and producing. Some programs offer internships with television, radio or Internet news organizations. Residential and commuter options are available, as well as college credit. Students may also be exposed to more general communications training, as well as podcasting and video production techniques.
