Korean Language Summer Programs
Experience the unique and historic setting of South Korea by participating in Korean summer programs. These programs offer cultural and civic education experiences as well as intensive language seminars based at universities and colleges, as part of homestays or as commuter day programs in the United States.
Some summer Korean programs focus students toward the modern tensions around the country's peace and development challenges, while others center more on travel experiences and pop culture. Middle and high school students can stay with host families and experience South Korean youth with activities such as K-Pop concerts, K-Dance lessons and other aspects of what is known as the Korean Wave. There are also excursions designed to enhance language abilities while imparting global perspectives in Seoul, Incheon or Busan, or a visit to the DMZ and a variety of other locations.
The programs feature credit and non-credit options and guidance from fluent and native Korean instructors teaching in classroom settings and providing cultural competency education. Students can learn about Buddhism and Buddhist religious traditions, enjoy Korean barbecue and take in classic Korean cinema.
