What makes Westchester and Fairfield Lifeguard Training different from other programs? Our student to instructor ratio for skills portion of class is generally 1 instructor to 6 students. The industry standard is 1 to 10. We find the extra input from quality, focused and caring instructors makes a tremendous difference in learning. Our students are provided with a hard copy manual in addition to access to the electronic version. Most students we poll prefer the hard copy. These differences increase our cost to run classes, but the results are well worth it. Lifeguard training prerequisites include: 300-yard continuous swim, tread water for 2 minutes without support and without stopping, and a timed brick test.
