From arts majors and minors, electives and kinesthetic arts (recreational activities) to all-camp programs that build community, a session of camp helps campers advance skills, discover new passions and make friends that could last a lifetime, while also growing as individuals.
Each day our campers experience a variety of immersive arts activities:
Campers in Grades 3-6 participate in two major workshops each day, each lasting approximately an hour and fifteen minutes. Grades 7-10 select one major and spend a total of four hours divided into two blocks. Learn more about Majors.
Minors are an opportunity for camp to come together based on evolving interests. Minors are an hour and a half session to explore arts areas that may be new or unfamiliar. Minors may be session long or week long, depending on content.
Weekly electives are a chance for our counselors and visiting faculty to offer programs through an artistic lens, depending on their own skills and interests. Electives could include creative writing, improv, song writing, knitting, or anything else our creative adults can dream up!
There are fun options for recreation for all of our campers! Yoga, Zumba, jogging, swimming, basketball, ultimate Frisbee, and soccer give us a chance to stretch our minds and bodies in a different way.
In the evening, we take advantage of visiting artists to provide master classes in our disciplines. This is also a chance for us to do all camp programming like luaus, bonfires and other fun, camp-style programs.
Shabbat at Camp
Shabbat is a completely collaborative experience at the Creative Arts Academy. Each week, our campers have a choice of activity area in which to help prepare for Shabbat. While some choose challah-baking, others wish to be in the Shabbat Band or a capella group, while others opt to prepare art or dance pieces. On Friday night, the community comes together, allowing us to take a deep breath and shift gears from the busy week. Saturdays are a break from our normal routine, with a late wake-up and leisure activities that find us in activities like a nature hike, the ropes course, canoeing, or tie-dying.
