University of Maine 4-H Camp & Learning Center: Bushcraft
Overview
During the first week, campers build skills, and enjoy all of what Bryant Pond has to offer. During their second week, Bushcraft takes to the waterways of Northern Maine for their expedition, returning to camp for Thursday evenings campfire, and a chance to reflect on their adventures!
Learn wilderness cooking over an open fire as you help cook your own meals. Master fire building without matches, and plan and prepare for a week -long canoe journey in the North Woods. There, you will explore the wilderness and immerse yourself into your natural surroundings.
Squirrels, deer, moose, owls and foxes will be your neighbors as you learn advanced animal tracking skills. You'll gain confidence and survival skills along this journey, and will have a chance to build your own shelter. Our Bushcraft campers will also have a chance to weave a beautiful pack-basket that they'll bring home.
