Travel For Teens believes that summer travel should be both fun and enriching. We offer cultural exploration, community service, language, and photography as well as Younger Teens and Older Teens programs to Europe, Africa, Latin America, Oceania, Asia, and North America for students entering 8th grade through college.
Travel the world with TFT this summer and discover what it means to be a traveler and not a tourist!
Balance and Flexibility We balance fun with learning. From years of working with teenagers and young adults, we've learned what's engaging and interesting, and what isn't. We create travel and study abroad itineraries for the summer that are fun and exciting, as well as well as culturally educational. We see hordes of teens walking around Europe with blank disinterested faces all too often, so to stray away from boring teen travel we provide our participants with choices each day rather than a rigid itinerary. Enjoy art? Check out the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid. More of a soccer fan than an art buff? Tour the Real Madrid Futbol Stadium instead!
As Seasoned travelers we recognize that unplanned activities are often the most memorable, which is why we are always flexible when there is a local festival or special art exhibit the group is interested in season. For example, this summer during the World Cup we made sure all of our teens in Germany at the time were able to get in on the action and be a part of the once in a lifetime experience.
Our Staff Regardless of the travel trip you choose, if your leaders aren't fun, the trip won't be fun. Travel for Teens employs responsible, knowledgeable, well traveled, fun loving staff. Our trip leaders and counselors work to ensure that all students are both having the time of their lives AND learning (without even realizing it!).
Education All Travel for Teens summer programs are designed to be as educational as they are fun. In fact, many TFT trip leaders and counselors are former or current educators. While some of TFT's programs are focused on a particular activity (photography, language study, community service, etc.), cultural exploration programs (which do not include classes or volunteer work) are no exception when it comes to learning. TFT's goal is for every student to absorb cultural nuances, culinary treats, and interesting historical facts on every trip. On foreign language programs, we find engaging ways to enhance classroom learning with scavenger hunts, trips to the market, or challenges that require participants to interact with locals. On our photography programs, teens are exposed to professional photographers who teach both technical and conceptual lessons for how and when to capture the perfect shot. Perhaps the most valuable life lessons come from helping others. On our community service programs, students are able to make an impact on a variety of projects in different countries. High school students give back to our host communities, fostering a sense of global interconnectedness and responsibility.
Travel For Teens offers summer programs to fit a variety of needs and interests. Programs are available to middle school and high school students finishing grades 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 during the months of June, July, and August. Programs last between 10 and 22 days, and all of them are designed to be connected, so you can easily choose to participate in back-to-back trips!
*Safety is our number one priority at Travel For Teens. We employ highly trained and rigorously vetted counselors and trip leaders, carefully inspect all new locations' hotels and excursions, and remain up to date on any changing political situations that may affect safety standards. That's just the beginning!

The chance to experience all these beautiful places with great friends and counselors is so unique. I am grateful to have discovered Travel For Teens after graduating high school. It was my dream as a senior to go abroad and this trip answered all my prayers. Thank you so much for helping me step outside my comfort zone and get to see parts of the world I had only dreamed of, if only for two weeks! At first it can seem a little unusual, but once you start talking to other people in the group, you realize they are just like you. You start to make connections that form on their own because you see there are other teens who share your interests and help you adjust. The staff know just what to do and where to go. It was the time of my life, I loved it and feel inspired by the wonderful gift of traveling with TFT.
In the summer of 2018 I went on Travel for Teens’ “Europe for Older Teens: Florence, Cinque-Terre, Switzerland, and Paris” AND “Europe for Older Teens: Amsterdam, Munich, Swiss Alps, and Venice.” I can very honestly say that it was the best summer experience of my entire life thanks. I set out with the simple intention of being more well traveled and hopefully making a couple new friends, and that I certainly did. I couldn’t believe it! I actually made connections with people that I truly feel are going to last a lifetime. I’ve met up with friends I met over the summer since then and I carry the memories of those trips with me everyday. I would recommend those two trips especially because I felt as though I saw a good spread of Europe. Those are also some of the most historically fascinating destinations in the world, not to mention the food (nothing quite like Gelato in Florence). Switzerland is probably my new favorite place in the world and I absolutely can not wait to return to the karaoke nights and basking in the beautiful mountain range view from the balcony. If you have the opportunity to travel with TFT...take it! I will never forget my experience:) Alayna Donovan 16 Kansas
I have been on four TFT trips now, and my passion for the company and what TFT has to offer would not have been possible had I not gathered the courage to travel overseas alone for the first time. My expectations for this trip were exceeded beyond imagination; these three cities are each highlights of Eastern Europe and each offer their own unique culture that I was lucky enough to explore. Aside from the delicious trdelníks in Prague (a must have dessert if you’re there), I met friends on this trip and made connections with people I still keep in touch with to this day, almost 5 summers later. This program is extra special to me as it is what got me hooked on TFT, and it was the perfect introduction to the experience of being a traveler, not a tourist.
There are so many amazing places in Italy, it seems impossible to see all the famous and breathtaking sights in one trip, right? WRONG! I had always wanted to travel throughout Italy to get a chance to explore both the countryside of Tuscany and the beaches of Cinque Terre, and this trip was the perfect way to do just that. The activities on this trip ranged from a vast variety of making homemade pesto in a local Italian restaurant in Monterosso to climbing up the steep and slanted stairs of the Duomo in Florence. Whether I was hiking along the breathtaking views of the Cinque Terre trails or attempting to take a clever photo holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa, I was never found without a smile on my face. The friendships I made on this trip are still strong to this day, and the memories and experiences were unforgettable.
I was lucky enough to travel to Iceland with TFT the first summer they ran the program (summer 2017), and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Traveling the ring road of Iceland proved to be the best way to see all of Iceland and what it has to offer. Though I was unable to pronounce half of the places we visited, it was extremely special to travel to small towns like Seydisfjordur and Stykkisholmur that most tourists to Iceland don’t get to see. Iceland is a truly unique and special country, and this trip provided me with the opportunity to see all of the famous, breathtaking waterfalls, while also allowing me to kayak in the fjords, from a town of less than 500 people. Whether it was hiking on glaciers or swimming in between continental plates in the Silfra fissure, this trip never failed to amaze me.
As I entered my summer after graduating high school and before starting college, I wanted to do something that created lifelong memories and allowed me to explore a new part of the world I’d never been to; TFT’s Greece Island Hopping for Older Teens did just that. I was thankful that TFT offered a program specifically for kids finishing 11th and 12th grade, because I wanted to be surrounded by other people my age, with similar experiences and interests as me. This program was the perfect way for me to explore the gorgeous beaches of Paros and Naxos, and also immerse myself in the greek culture through sampling different foods, and speaking with locals. Greece has so many unique and historical sights to offer, and this trip gave me the chance to see it all; the famous Acropolis in Athens, the postcard-like blue domed buildings of Santorini, the ancient grecian island Delos, and more. I could not have asked for a better trip to send me off into the new chapter of my life!
From paragliding in New Zealand to snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef of the coast of Australia, I had the best 21 days of my life with Travel for Teens. I will never forget looking out the window on Air New Zealand as we flew through the snow-capped mountains to land in Queenstown. The beauty of this foreshadowed the once-in-a-life time experiences I had the privilege of doing on this amazing adventure. The counselors made me feel so at home in places I’ve never been, and the friends I made gave me memories I will cherish forever. I recommend this trip to anyone who loves adventure and lives for the moment.
Travel for Teens provided me with the opportunity to not only explore new cultures and sights, but also allowed me to experience life as a local not a tourist. My trip to Italy, Switzerland, and France completely changed my life by instilling an appreciation for other languages, foods, and traditions. One of my favorite parts was traveling with a group of students my age and the extremely knowledgeable and passionate counselors who I still communicate with to this day.
Many people consider Fiji to simply be an island paradise – that’s it. Now, don’t get me wrong: Fiji is indeed a beautiful, relaxing country; however, so much more is offered throughout this remote chain of islands in the Pacific Ocean. When I signed up for the Travel for Teens Fiji Service & Adventure trip, my parents were quite skeptical of the trip, bombarding me with questions: “what are you going to do for 13 days on a small island??” Truthfully, I didn’t know, but once I got to the islands, I was so thankful I signed up. While it is true you will always feel the ocean breeze and warm temperatures across the island, I never once thought the trip wasn’t worth it. I live in Florida, and I could just as easily travel to The Bahamas, Dominican Republic or Jamaica; however, Fiji is entirely different. Everything from the community service aspect of the trip to the great personalities of my peers throughout the duration of my stay made Travel for Teens’ Fiji Service & Adventure trip unforgettable. Right from the very beginning, people tried bonding. It worked. It is true we traveled across the entire world to a remote island unlike anything we’ve experienced before, and this unfamiliarity created a bond far quicker and stronger than one that would be formed in a more familiar setting. A good chunk of the trip was spent in a small island chain called the Yasawa Islands a few hours from the largest Fijian island where we helped a local school for a community service project. It was a wonderful experience. We could play and interact with the kids at the school, all between ages 5 and 15, and all these kids spoke English – certainly a nice benefit. They absolutely loved us. They had so much energy, running alongside us around their soccer field and dirt track, making days felt like minutes, and minutes feel like seconds. They taught us Fijian songs and games, and I still remember how to count from one to ten in one of the native Fijian languages all thanks to two kids by the name of Bill and Abel. Now, I am not someone who is the best with kids (I feel rather awkward in those sorts of situations), but I didn’t feel any amount of discomfort with these. I was very happy in this regard. We built an incinerator for the school so they could burn their trash (small islands like this cannot have landfills; therefore, burning trash is their best option) and the neat thing about this was the fact that we could see each and every Fiji service trip’s work before us while we were there. Each Fiji Service & Adventure trip contributes a bit more to the school, and we could ask kids that went to the school what last year’s group accomplished. Upon leaving, some of the kids presented a few of their favorite travelers some gifts, and I was one to receive a handmade bracelet from Abel. It had a Fijian symbol that supposedly brings good luck to its wearer and I still wear it every single day as it helps remind me of my wonderful experiences I had in Fiji. Once we finished our community service project, we engaged in other extraordinary activities across multiple islands, and some highlights included scuba diving in what I consider one of the most beautiful reefs in the entire world (and I have been to the Great Barrier Reef previously – Fiji tops it), a zipline adventure in the hills overlooking local villages, farms and beaches, and my personal favorite: an early-morning hike to the top of a mountain to see the sunrise. We were doubtful about getting up very early, but it was entirely worth it. Eventually, a few minutes after reaching the top, the reds and pinks began to show, and we saw that big, bright red ball rise up from the perfectly calm sea one thousand feet below. That was likely the most spectacular sunrise I had ever seen (quite possibly the most spectacular one I will ever see, unless I have the fortune to travel back to Fiji once again). As I said in the beginning, “they thought I would get bored for 13 days on an island. They were wrong.” Fiji is entirely worth putting on your bucket list, and not only that – Fiji should be at the very top of your bucket list. Travel for Teens is able to check off that list for you, and the 13-day Fiji Service & Adventure is your perfect choice to experience a group of islands unlike any other. Fiji is far more incredible than any island you can experience in the Caribbean, far more incredible than Hawaii, and far more incredible than nearly anywhere else on the planet. I only hope one day I can return.
Thailand. We have all heard of this incredible country before. It’s your perfect tropical Southeast Asian paradise. Everything from encounters with amazing wildlife to some of the best beaches on the planet put this country on everyone’s bucket list. Unfortunately, with this being such a popular tourist destination, it has become overrun with foreigners in recent years. I realized this when I signed up for Thailand Elephant Service & The Islands trip, and I was quite worried that my trip would not live up to the “Thailand paradise” expectations. Fortunately, Travel for Teens understood this as well, and the only time I saw large amounts of foreigners throughout my entire vacation was at the airport, as you would expect. Outside the airport, I was blessed with what I can confidently say is my absolute favorite trip I have ever had the pleasure of going on (and I have been to 30 countries and 6 continents in total, including Antarctica). Travel for Teens seeks out activities to participate in that your standard teen tour group will not do. Nearly all other Thailand “adventure programs” listed on this website will in fact not be much of an adventure at all. They will instead take you to major tourist destinations, and that’s it – that’s where Travel for Teens sets itself apart from the crowd. Of course, one of the major highlights of this trip were the incredible few days up in Northern Thailand where we had the privilege to work with elephants in their retirement parks. Here, elephants rescued from the lumber business and street performing in Bangkok were provided a safe haven to live out the rest of their days in peace. Being able to get up close and personal with these creatures allowed my group and I to see how gentle they truly were. There was a sense of kindness in their eyes that I haven’t seen before – anywhere. It’s truly an incredible experience. We were quite a ways away from the city and in an area where there were more elephants than people, and in this situation we were able to escape the “standard Thailand vacation”. We helped bathe the elephants alongside feeding the baby elephants – they were very cute. We learned a ton about these massive creatures: everything from how they only sleep 4 hours a day on average to how it costs upwards of $300,000 per year for food for each elephant to how riding an elephant for a prolonged period actually gives them back problems later on in life. All of this wouldn’t be possible on a standard Thailand vacation where you may actually ride an elephant yourself, or just see them briefly perform. Travel for Teens gives you the unique experience to work with the elephants themselves and that is something I truly treasure. Another incredible experience this Thailand Elephant Service & The Islands trip provided me was a two-day rafting trip out in the remote Thailand jungle. For nearly two full days, we saw no trace of civilization: no roads, no houses – nothing. This is a true Thailand adventure, given we traveled over one hundred miles downriver between the towns of Pai and Mae Hong Son in far northwestern Thailand close to the border with Myanmar. We camped overnight alongside the river, and despite it perhaps not being your “luxury” overnight stay, it was the time when everyone bonded the quickest. Being in a raft for many hours amounted to great conversations and before long, I realized just how incredible the group I traveled with was. They made the trip fantastic as much as the trip itself did, and that’s saying quite a lot considering just how amazing the itinerary was. Everything else from scuba diving in some of the most pristine reefs imaginable to trying some of the most delicious food you could possibly fathom summed this trip up to be my absolute favorite I have ever been on with Travel for Teens. I have participated in nine trips in total with the company, and this is number one on my list. Do not miss out on an incredible opportunity to see and experience things you will be unable to see anywhere else on Earth. This trip is the trip of a lifetime.
Travel for Teens totally changed my life. TFT not only helped me become more independent, but it’s also helped me make life long friends. The overall experience was one of a kind, and it is one that I will never forget. The counselors were amazing and they made the trip so much more fun and relaxing. The counselors were also very well trained and certified for their jobs they were able to help when there was conflict and they are also very knowledgeable on the countries and I’m travel experience. The trip was very organized which helped my family always know what I was doing, and by having a schedule as a group we were able to see so much more. I did the Ultimate Europe for 21 days and I totally recommend taking a trip with TFT!
Over the summer going into my senior year of high school I took a trip with TFT to Hawaii. I wanted to go out of the country, but my mom was skeptical. I honestly decided to go to Hawaii because it was the farthest state away from home for me. Before going on the trip, I never really thought about what I wanted to major in at college. I can honestly say that TFT gave me the push start on my current major and helped me find my passion. During the trip, we did beach clean ups, learned about sea turtles, and hung out with some local children. I got volunteer service hours while having so much fun. I had the best time and met so many amazing people. I am a freshman in college now studying conservation biology at the University of Minnesota. I still to this day keep in contact with some of the people I met on that trip and I am so thankful I did it. To anyone thinking about traveling with TFT- I highly recommend it.
Thanks to Travel for Teens, I had an amazing summer and I can't wait to have another one this year! I went on this trip without knowing anyone and I left with a group of new friends. We started in Berlin, we saw everything from lush parks to 13th-century churches to beautiful art museums. Then Paris, we climbed so many tourist attractions, Arc de Triumph, the hills of Montmartre and of course The Eiffel Tower. There was so much culture in London, from Abbey Road to Harry Potter there is something for everyone! I highly recommend this trip for anyone new to Europe and looking for an interesting trip filled with history, culture, and adventure!
This past summer (summer 2018) was my second year traveling with Travel For Teens, and my first year as a counselor in training, or CIT. In July, I set off with TFT on Peru Service and Adventure. This was the trip of a lifetime! For 21 days we traveled around the beautiful countryside and immersed ourselves into the rich Incan culture. What I loved about the trip is the equal balance of both the service work and the thrill-seeking. The community service we did for the schools and in the town of Misinay, Peru was one of the most humbling experiences of my life. This portion of the trip is where we got a sense of what life is really like for these people. For a few days, we were a part of the family and community. We were welcomed with open arms and were sent off with the warmest of hugs and heavy hearts. The goodbyes were bittersweet, as we all would miss our host families, but were excited about continuing on our adventure. The other half of the trip was just as inspiring as the first. Being the adrenaline-junky that I am, I was thrilled to go white-water rafting, walk across suspension bridges in the Amazon Rainforest, stand in awe of the beauty of Macchu Picchu, and visit the great floating islands of Lake Titicaca! Everyday was a new adventure and an checkmark off the bucket list! I am so thankful for the opportunity to experience it with TFT, the memories and the friendships that I made will last me a lifetime. Also, for me I had the unique experience of being the CIT for the trip, which gave me insights on what goes on behind the scenes. It was a new level of responsibility that allowed me to bridge the gap between the students and the counselors. I loved this incredible learning experience and it added so much to my trip! Needless to say the trip was an once in a lifetime adventure for me, and Peru now holds a very special place in my heart. All thanks to TFT!
This trip was truly amazing in so many ways. This was my first trip outside the US; not only is Korea amazing in itself, but the staff are very fun, helpful, and knowledgeable. When I went, the group only had 11 travelers, so we all got to know each other really well. It felt like one big family, adventuring across the beaches, snacking on new flavors (be it spicy, fruity, stinky, or sweet--my favorites), shopping along the streets, and drinking in the Korean culture. Warning: it's hot and humid in the summer, but it's really worth it. It was a completely unique and diverse experience that has everything from historic temples to modern cities to rocky sea views to relaxing spas. I had so much fun and really felt immersed! Thanks Kylie and Simon!
This trip was absolutely amazing. Life changing even. It opened up my eyes to so many new cultural perspectives and ideals and allowed me to dive into a brand new culture I barely even heard about and truly experience it first hand as to how amazing the Fijian way of life is. Volunteering in the local school with the cutest kids you will ever meet in your ENTIRE life was just the beginning of my extraordinary time there along with the dancing in the moon light after dinner, learning a Fijian dance, swimming in the crystal clear water, and one of my favorite parts was waking up to the sound of waves every morning. Truly magical. This trip is for everyone and I would certainly take the chance and go on this special and unique adventure of a life time.
It has always been one of my dreams to go to Hawaii and Travel For Teens made my dream come true. On the trip I was able to try scuba diving for the first time and I loved it! I also got to swim with sea turtles which was fantastic. One of the coolest things about the trip was getting to learn more about sea turtles and how we can help them survive in the wild. The staff was amazing and were great to hang out with and talk to. Travel For Teens Helped me face my fears and learn that there is a beautiful world out there. I would recommend Travel For teens to anyone that is trying to give there child the trip of a lifetime.
This trip to Italy was such an amazing time. From swimming in the Mediterranean Ocean for the first time, to eating true Italian cuisine, this was such a great trip. I saw and experienced a whole different culture from mine. Modes of transportation, housing and the food were all different from what I was used to. I got to see the magnificent, old ruins of the ancient city Pompeii, and explore the cities of Positano, Amalfi, and Capri. I got to eat true Italian gelatto and make and paint my own ceramics. I loved swimming in the water on the pebble beach looking at the volcano in the distant. I learned more skills on working with peers and in a group to figure out the best way to complete tasks and time management. Also, I met some really cool people! I cannot wait to go back to Italy again one day.
Going to Thailand was an experience I will never forget. I traveled with a couple friends I had met on a previous TFT trip, which was awesome! TFT gave me the opportunity to experience things I probably never could have if I had traveled on my own, like doing community service with elephants! Through doing community service, exploring Thai markets, and island hopping I was able to experience many different aspects of the country. I happened to get sick for a few days near the end of my trip, but my TFT counselors made sure to take great care of me and help me in any way they could. I had so much fun traveling with TFT!
This past summer, at fourteen years old, I had the opportunity to travel to Italy with 13 other strangers. In any case, this sounds a bit odd, but I can honestly say now, that this trip was life changing. Every day felt like a new adventure. Our trip leader Hunt kept us in a bit of mystery the whole time, which in hindsight, was the best way to conduct the trip. On our travels, I saw the most once-in-a-lifetime places, including the Vatican, the Colosseum, David’s Statue, and my favorite, the Tuscan town, Montalcino. The views were breathtaking. We did things like riding in a gondola in Venice, and wine tasting in Montalcino, to even swimming in the salty Mediterranean Sea at Cinque Terre. On our own, we even found some secret passage ways to squeeze through and explore little hidden-gem neighborhoods. I took lots of interesting photos. But most importantly, along the way to these amazing places, I met the most amazing friends. We danced in our hotel rooms, and ate breakfast together every morning. There was never a dull moment. I feel like I came back from this trip with a whole different mindset. I was visibly a more energetic and bubbly person. The world seemed a little bit brighter. My counselors had the most positive outlook that I now aspire to possess. Travel For Teens is my gateway to seeing the world, and this trip was well beyond worth it.
This trip to Greece was my first time traveling with TFT and easily one of the best experiences of my entire life. I learned so much more about myself, traveling, and other cultures over those two weeks than I ever expected to. I did not know anyone on my trip before meeting up at the airport and ended the trip with best friends that I continue to talk to every single day (over three years later), and that I even coordinated TFT trips with the following summer. I hold so many special memories from this trip and could not recommend TFT and Greece more!
My trip with Travel for Teens to Amsterdam, Munich, Switzerland and Venice was one I’ll remember for my entire life. The people I meet and the places I saw were ones that will stay with me my entire life. From seeing the city of Amsterdam while floating down the canals to canyoning through the Swiss Alps, we saw beautiful sights in adventurous and fun ways. We strolled the streets of Venice and engaged ourselves in the italian cuisine, and in Germany explored the Bavarian alps while bike riding. The program and counselors were supportive and knew what they were doing, and always made sure we were having fun and always in a good mood.
This past summer, I had the ability to travel with Travel for Teens to the beautiful countries and cities of Prague, Vienna, Slovenia and Croatia. The experiences I had while on this trip is one I will never forget. From meeting friends that will last a lifetime to seeing sights unimaginable, my entire trip was beyond amazing. From a biking tour through the beautiful city of Prague, to seeing breathtaking castles in Vienna, and swimming in the clearest water in Slovenia, the adventures and sights I saw while on this trip were ones that will forever be some of the most beautiful places I have seen. The counselors were great in helping us learn about the culture and making us feel like travelers, not tourists. I wish I could do this trip again.
In the summer of 2017, I was fortunate enough to embark on TFT’s Peru Service Trip and experience eleven days of wonder and bliss that I will cherish for the rest of my life. From the start, the TFT staff were extremely helpful and well-organized. At each destination I was provided with clean, safe, and comfortable accommodations and each activity was culturally immersive and fun. My counselors really fostered an inclusive and pleasant environment for everyone on the trip. Both counselors exceeded my expectations in every aspect and it truly speaks to the kind of company TFT is! I am happy to say that I am still in contact with everyone from the trip even a year later.
My Costa Rica experience with TFT was an unforgettable one. I appreciated how it was not just a “vacation” but I was very invested in the culture and communities there. From zip-lining across the green rainforest, to building playgrounds for Costa Rican children, TFT did a fantastic job at allowing me to see all the amazing things Costa Rica has to offer.
In July 2018, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime: to travel across Europe with amazing kids my age and outstanding councillors. This trip showed me beautiful parts of the world I longed to see since I was a little girl. Not only were the people, accommodations and food incredible, but also the activities. Like canyoning down a mountain side in the middle of the Swiss alps, paddle boating in the canals of Amsterdam and riding my bike on a beautiful trail just at the foot of the Neuschwanstein castle to a lake where we could swim to the middle and be facing the German hillside with 2 beautiful castles. Going on this trip, I can now tell my friends that I’ve traveled across Europe and I’m not even done high school yet. It was truly an incredible experience and I would totally recommend it for any teenagers aspiring to travel.
This summer I had the pleasure of exploring France with Travel For Teens- and it was a trip I will never forget! From studying French in a local school and riding the metro to picnicking by the Seine and visiting museums, this trip made me feel like I was a part of the city and seeing it as it was. I always felt safe and welcome, and the counselors were extremely knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions I had. I know because of my experience here I will be returning to Paris in the future (hopefully) and I'll definitely be joining TFT on another trip next summer!
For the summer of 2018 I traveled with TFT to New Zealand and Australia. It was probably one of the most fun and exhilarating trips I’ve ever had. I traveled solo and made so many new friends. The counselors were great and I felt safe the entire time. The whole trip was thoroughly planned out, with each excursion being a way to break out of my comfort zone and be adventurous. Every singe day I was so happy and looked forward to seeing the new bits of culture out in the beautiful countries I visited. In New Zealand, I was fortunate enough to go paragliding. The view was spectacular, I felt like I could graze over the mountain tops. The mountains looked like a photo out of a photoshopped post card. I enjoyed every second of the experience. One of the highlights for me wa the service part of the trip. We worked at Sheoak Ridge, a nature reserve in Australia. We built pathways and played with wallabies. It was so much fun and warmed my heart knowing that I was making a difference to the different animals at this reserve. Besides the fun activities during the trip, the people traveling along with me was what really made my trip with TFT so special. There were around 18 people in my travel group and each and everyone person was full of life and shared the same passion as me to travel. The friends I made are long lasting and the experiences we shared is what will bond us forever. I highly recommend traveling with TFT especially to New Zealand and Australia. I felt as if I was living my best life each and everyday. I plan on traveling with them again next year.
I never thought I'd have the opportunity to go to China until I saw the trip posted on TFT. I was so excited because I had gone to Southeast Asia last year with the company and had a blast. I love learning and understanding the history behind the places so China was the perfect place for me. I was able to see the terracotta warriors, the Great Wall of China, and even work with amazing, and cuddly, giant pandas. I had never seen a panda before and they are truly incredible animals and something I will never forget! One of my favorite parts was going to help a local farmer. After a long days work, they provided us with our own dumpling making class and a delicious meal. I'm so glad I had the chance to explore China and I cannot wait to go back!
On this trip I had experienced one of the best summers of my life! It started in JFK airport where I met most of the people that were going on the trip with me, and everybody was so nice! It was a long flight and we jumped right into the action when we landed in Italy. Starting with a week of community service, which included maintaining and renovating a local elementary school, maintaining different trail sites, and helping out a monastery. Afterwards was a whirlwind of adventure, from Tuscany to Sorrento we visited different historic sites and spent a day on the water in a private boat! I have always loved traveling the world, but TFT really helped me hone the idea of being a traveler and NOT a tourist! The daily gelato was a plus too!
Two GORGEOUS cities and ten days to explore them. This trip was so amazing and gave me so many different opportunities to see different historic sites and the local areas. This trip was both pretty planned, but spontaneous at the same time- We were able to have input on what we as the group wanted to do almost daily. The counselors were amazing as well! Super fun to be around and gave us space to explore by ourselves but also made sure that we were safe where ever we were. An overall amazing ten days!
My Costa Rica experience with TFT was an unforgettable one. I appreciated how it was not just a “vacation” but I was very invested in the culture and communities there. From zip-lining across the green rainforest, to building playgrounds for Costa Rican children, TFT did a fantastic job allowing me to see all the amazing things Costa Rica has to offer.
I loved this trip! We spent an amazing 10 days in Barcelona, Madrid and Malaga doing everything from making paella to learning about the history of Spanish royalty. TFT trips are always so diverse in the activities we do and offer something for everyone. We went shopping, saw amazing soccer stadiums, hung out at the beach, explored an ancient cave to name a few things! I would recommend this trip and this company to any young adults who love traveling, learning about language, and exploring new and beautiful places.
On my TFT trip, I had the most amazing time. Not only did I get to explore a few cool cities, but I was supported by the best staff. I instantly became extremely close friends with the other kids on TFT trip. Everyone who went was so nice, and within minutes after my arrival in San Diego, any nervous energy I felt had been let go. Over those two weeks, I learned how to be independent, and trust myself as well as how to rely on other kids my age. I loved swimming in the Pacific ocean. I had so many favorite parts that I can't choose one. We stayed at this incredibly beautiful mountainside lodge in Lake Tahoe, it was so nice. The last night of my trip was really fun. All the kids stayed up together and talked about how much we would miss each other. 2 years later, I hung out with a few of my friends from the trip a month ago. Go on a TFT trip, it an adventure that you'd be crazy to miss. The connections you will make can last a lifetime.
The Travel for Teens trip to Florence, Cinque Terre, Switzerland and Paris was the best experience of my life! The itinerary for each location was full of amazing activities and excursions that helped me experience the culture of each city like a local. The counselors made sure we always felt safe, but gave us freedom to explore on our own. There is nothing I would change about my two weeks in Europe as they were the best of my life! Thank you Travel for Teens for some unforgettable memories.
This trip was amazing!!! It was my first trip abroad alone without my family and I absolutely loved it!! TFT handled everything so well and made sure every teen was included. The counselors made sure everyone was always having fun and that there was always a positive atmosphere. They took care of everything so well. One teen even had his suitcase left in the US by the airline and they made sure that he got his bag as soon as possible. They handled everything so well. TFT also had all of the best activities and excursions that I wouldn’t have been able to find if I planned the trip myself. I cannot say enough good things about TFT and I can’t wait for my next trip with them this summer!!!
Visiting the west coast and Canada was one of the best decisions of my life hands down. The National Parks were incredible sights to see. Rock climbing in Utah was the scariest adventure of my life, but so rewarding. I loved white water rafting and Alcatraz had the best audio tour I’ve ever heard. Camping out underneath the stars in Utah and Colorado was beautiful and I cannot imagine having a better experience. I loved the friends I made on the trip and my trip leaders were well equipped for all situations we experienced and amazing people in general. I can’t wait to travel with TFT again!
The Italy Service and Adventure trip was my first trip with Travel for Teens. It was an incredible and unforgettable experience. For the service aspect, my fellow travelers and I helped maintain a garden at a monastery and renovated an Italian elementary school. Then came the adventure! I regard some of these days as the best experiences of my life. For example, we visited historic sites such as Pompeii and took a boat ride up and down the Amalfi Coast. Overall, this trip taugh me what it means to be a traveler, not a tourist. It was an amazing opportunity for me to experience what Italian culture is like, and don't even get me started on the food! I will never be able to settle for American pasta again!
My trip to Australia and New Zealand with Travel for Teens has changed my perspective on traveling, I was not just a tourist when I visited these foreign countries but became extremely immersed in their culture, through experiences such as watching a ritualistic haka in New Zealand to camping in the Australian outback with locals. I felt at home in these countries and not out of place, which sometimes can happen when traveling. We stayed in hostels, not big chain hotels and got to meet so many locals that we could learn a lot from, such as where the best traditional places to eat were and where we should shop or visit if we had any free time (which luckily was not often because we always had some fun activity planned). Overall, I honestly had the time of my life on this trip and it really opened my eyes to truly experiencing different cultures, after I even told my Mom that this trip has showed me that I want-NEED to continue traveling to different parts of the world for the rest of my life.
My trip with TFT will never be forgotten. They truly immerse you in the culture and show you the way of life in the countries. I never thought I would be able to travel to Norway, Denmark, and Sweden, but TFT gave me that chance. The staff are friendly and welcoming to provide the best experience. The kids are also friendly and you will make life- long friends. I recommend this program to everyone.
Last summer presented itself with a unique opportunity to go to Fiji. Fiji highlighted its massive coconut trees, marine life diversity (manta rays, sharks, vibrant coral!) and most importantly its warmhearted people. I loved immersing myself in a culturally diverse environment and interacting with the locals. We participated in kava ceremonies and talked about everything from rugby to our personal lives. The community service took place on Nacula Island. Our group worked to complete the painting and beautification of two school buildings. While working, we peaked through the classroom windows to see eager children learning and absorbing information like a sponge. And at that moment I felt a deep responsibility to create a sound environment for them so that nothing impedes their learning. Overall, this trip definitely shaped me and I can't wait for more opportunities like this!
During the 2017 summer I was lucky enough to go on the Travel for Teens South Africa service trip. Going to South Africa has always been on my bucket list so being able to go as a teenager was an experience I will never forget. I must admit before the trip I was nervous on how everything would go. Both of my siblings had gone on a teen trip before but with different companies but my friends recommended Travel for Teens so we both decided to go on a trip. But once we were at the airport and meet everyone else on our trip my nerves immediately went away. The trip was organized and well planned which led to each kid having such a great summer. I highly recommend traveling with Travel For Teens if you are looking to have an amazing summer where not only will you travel somewhere amazing you also will make new friends from all over the world.
This trip is a wonderful way to finish high school! We got to visit Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. This trip was a great way to experience so many cultures. The counselors did a great job of keeping the group entertained, and they handled any bumps in the road extremely well. There was not a single moment on this trip when I felt unsafe. It was a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and (of course) food! There was a lot of traveling around since we visited so many cities, but TFT did a great job of packing in enough adventure to leave us satisfied in each country. Some of the highlights for me were Angkor Wat in Cambodia, hiking with elephants in Laos, and an overnight cruise in Halong Bay, Vietnam. I would recommend this trip (and this company as a whole) to anyone! This was my 6th trip with TFT, and every single trip has been incredible!
From Chiang Mai to the islands of Thailand, I was never bored for a moment. I was able to bathe and play with elephants one day, then take a two-day rafting trip and sleep in bamboo huts by the Pai river the next day. I could not believe that we were able to work with retired elephants and help care for them. One of my favorite parts was going to all the temples and learning more about the Thai culture. I was also able to test my bartering skills (which I’ve found are not very good) in the markets while shopping for souvenirs. Next, we went to Ko Tao and Ko Samui and got a taste of the islands life. It was relaxing to do yoga, lip sync competitions, and swim in the Gulf of Thailand. Not to mention, scuba/snorkeling in the crystal-clear water, learning to cook traditional Thai food, and so much more. Our last stop in Thailand was the capital, Bangkok. I loved the city and all the sites. We went to the Grand Palace, the largest Buddha in Thailand, and got to see the famous Muy Thai fighting. I didn’t think that my second trip could live up the first trip I took with TFT but I was quickly proved wrong.
Best time of my life!! I would recommend this trip to anyone. I absolutely loved every second of this trip and would go back in a heartbeat. I made so many new friendships throughout this trip and was able to have so many great experiences like walking through the gardens of Versailles to paragliding through the Swiss Alps. I recommend this trip to anyone who is new to traveling or looking for an amazing time. The TFT staff were absolutely amazing and created such a fun experience for us. No one else could replicate an experience like they create for us, it was so incredible. I don't know any other group I would've rather been in. I went home with 23 new friends from all over the U.S and an experience that helped me grow as a person and want to explore more.
