Every summer, Smith College welcomes more than 250 young women in high school who want to pursue their academic interests in and outside of the classroom, strengthen their college applications, and meet other motivated, ambitious college-bound women from all over the world.
Important COVID-19 update
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Smith College on-campus programs have been cancelled for the 2020 summer season to ensure the health and safety of our participants and staff. Please visit our website or connect with us on social media (@summeratsmith) to be in touch. We wish you wellness and peace at this time and hope to hear from you during our 2021 application season.
Smith's exciting precollege programs are for young women in high school who want to pursue their academic interests in and out of the classroom, strengthen their college applications and meet other motivated and ambitious college-bound young women. In addition to academic enrichment and exploration, Smith's precollege programs are also about having fun. Participants will make new friends, explore the campus and lively town of Northampton, Massachusetts, and enjoy nightly activities in their houses.
Since Smith's precollege summer programs are residential, students get the exciting opportunity to live in one of Smith's unique campus houses. Smith's residential environment enhances and enriches the academic programs. Students will also have access to the dining hall, superb athletic facilities, an art museum, a botanic garden and greenhouse, and libraries.
*Young women who will be in high school (grades 9, 10, 11, and 12) in fall 2020 are eligible to apply for the summer 2020 program.
Smith College's precollege programs challenge and inspire young women by immersing them in an intellectual, residential community carefully designed to preview the undergraduate experience of Smith College.
Our program offerings include:
Women, Gender and Representation, Science and Engineering, Creative Writing, College Admissions Workshop and Sustainable Futures.
