The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Summer Academy is the definitive program for talented and motivated high school students: a four-week, college-level art making experience in the nation’s first and premier school of art.
Open to students who will have completed 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grades by summer 2016. The program welcomes young artists dedicated to honing their craft and exploring the world of art.
The Summer Academy is five weeks, July 6 - August 7, 2015. Summer Academy classes are held Monday–Friday, 9 am – 4 pm. Each weekday is devoted to a specific discipline: drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking, with an Illustration workshop project combining components from the drawing and printmaking disciplines. Field trips are scheduled each Wednesday; field trip days may begin earlier and/or end later.
Spend each week immersed in all four disciplines (drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking), guided by PAFA’s renowned faculty. The program is available for 4.0 undergraduate credits. Students completing satisfactory coursework will earn program grades (one grade/credit per discipline) and the credits will appear on a transcript (available upon request).
