Overview

At Mass Audubon’s Drumlin Farm Summer Day Camp, we develop an appreciation of nature. Campers gain confidence and comfort being in the natural world and understand the interconnectedness among people, land, and wildlife.

TEEN PROGRAMS INCLUDE:

Farm Ecologists (ages 13-15)

July 15 - July 26

Explore the farm like never before! Go behind the scenes at Drumlin Farm as you help care for livestock and captive wildlife. Work alongside farm staff to grow, harvest, and prepare food. Take a field trip to local farmers markets to learn about how food reaches our tables. Team up with teacher naturalists to educate visitors. Then put your experience to use as you learn about the inner workings of Drumlin Farm.

Nature Photography (ages 14-17)

August 12 - August 16

Capturing the "awesomeness" of the natural world with a digital camera is one of the most powerful ways to share it with others. Hone your photography skills as you take stills and action shots of our farm animals, wildlife, and landscapes. Learn from other photographers at Mass Audubon, host a mini-photo gallery for other campers, and take home your favorite breathtaking scenes and unforgettable moments. Bring your own camera or borrow one of ours.

Iron Chef Drumlin Farm (ages 14-17)

August 12 - August 16

Go from omnivore to locavore as you learn about food and how it reaches your table. Get your hands dirty in the fields; harvest fresh fruits and vegetables to bring back to the kitchen; prepare meals and snacks from locally sourced produce and meat. Pick up new knowledge about sustainable growing practices at Drumlin Farm and other local farms. Make it year-round by learning traditional and modern methods of food preservation!

Coastal Birding Adventure (ages 13-17)

August 19 - August 23

Travel through the unique coastal ecosystems of Massachusetts and search for and learn about the unique birds that inhabit them. Spot warblers in pine barrens, plovers and sandpipers in the dunes, and terns over the ocean. Check out the latest rare sightings and search for early migrant visitors.
