Discover an ancient Inca paradise on this 16 day service adventure! This program offers participants the opportunity to collaborate with local community members on sustainable development projects, live with a host family, partake in unique cultural exchange activities, and experience adrenaline pumping adventure.
We start our trip in Urubamba where we settle into our bed and breakfast for introductory activities, including a team scavenger hunt, that gets the group speaking Spanish and working together. We visit a nearby alpaca farm and prepare for our homestays with language activities and role-playing.
The next stage of the trip takes us to the homestay where our host families are excited to meet us and open their homes and hearts to us! We spend the days together working on service projects with the community. Previous projects have included constructing playgrounds, building a community center, painting a school classroom, and working with local youth on educational activities.
The afternoons and evenings are a highlight as everyone gets together to play soccer, enjoy game night, participate in a cooking class, and more! We also enjoy hiking, learning local arts and crafts, and engaging in cultural activities with new local friends. We say a tearful goodbye to our host families and feel satisfied knowing that we made a positive contribution to the community and built lasting relationships.
We hop on the train that winds us through the majestic Andean mountains to the small town of Aguas Calientes. Here we explore the ancient, lost city of Machu Picchu on a guided tour. There are no words to describe the immensity of the experience.
We spend our final day in Cusco, shopping for souvenirs and celebrating all that we've accomplished over the last couple of weeks. While we are sad to leave after an unforgettable and impactful experience, we bring home the friendships we’ve made and are excited to share the lessons we’ve learned!
