Warp into 'Fiji Time' and discover the richness of Fijian life! This program offers participants the opportunity to collaborate with local community members on sustainable development projects, live with a welcoming host family, partake in unique cultural exchange activities, and experience the hidden wonders of Fiji!
The group arrives to a beautiful beach eco-resort in Fiji where we begin to get to know one another with orientation and participate in a few community service activities at a local school! We also visit the local market to shop for our color sulus, the national dress for men and women in Fiji!
The next stage of the trip takes us to the homestay where our host families are excited to meet us and open their homes and hearts to us! When we arrive, a “sevu sevu” welcome ceremony inducts our group into the tribe for the duration of our stay! We spend the days together working on service projects with the community.
During the past 20 summers, we have built nurses’ stations, constructed and restored community buildings and classrooms, led classes teaching English to village kids, and planted thousands of young trees for the benefit of future generations. The afternoons and evenings are a highlight as everyone gets together to play sports, enjoy game night, participate in a cooking classes, and more!
We say a tearful goodbye to our host families and feel satisfied knowing that we made a positive contribution to the community and built lasting relationships. We make our way back to the coast where we celebrate our last few days together with a boat excursion along the Sunshine Coast to see Spinner Dolphins, a hike to a tropical rainforest waterfall, and a (optional add on) scuba dive course!
Join us to explore this special culture, meet people who will always be in your heart, and discover what it means to have a truly profound travel experience!
