Global Works' Costa Rica Sea Turtle Expedition is a dynamic program that gives participants a hands-on experience with marine life. The trip provides a transformative experience that helps participants to develop their interests in wildlife conservation and understand our environmental impact from a global perspective.
Work alongside a dedicated community organization to support sea turtle conservation on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. This region is home to the most important nesting sites of the endangered green turtle in the Western Hemisphere. Giant leatherback, hawksbill, and loggerhead turtles also nest here.
Together with knowledgeable staff and wildlife experts, you'll assist in a variety of impactful projects including, night patrol, working in the hatchery, and supporting conservation initiatives. Additionally, students will assist in collecting data on turtle nests and hatchlings.
We also take an boat excursion on the canals of Tortugero National Park, where a naturalist shows us the wide variety of wildlife living in the area. With luck, you'll see sloths, tree frogs, monkeys, crocodiles, tropical birds, and more!
