Economics for Leaders (EFL) and Economic History for Leaders (EHFL) are selective summer programs designed to prepare high school students for leadership roles in both private enterprise and public institutions.

Instruction focuses on key economics concepts and leadership skills needed for decision-making and building successful teams. In morning sessions, economics professors use micro - and macro-economics to introduce participants to the "economic way of thinking." Afternoon sessions build an understanding of practical leadership skills by engaging students in creative decision-making challenges.

The residential nature of the program provides participants the opportunity to study, live on a prestigious university campus, and learn more about college life.

College credit is available.

Admission is competitive, with decisions based on an applicant’s leadership potential, maturity, and vision of their future. Above all, participants are intelligent and articulate students who will benefit from this unique educational experience.

Programs are open to rising high school juniors and seniors (class of 2019 or 2020). Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with admission decisions rendered within three weeks of submission.

Cost and Session Information

Program cost is $1800. This includes lodging, meals, and course materials. Partial tuition scholarships are available and are awarded on a need and/or merit basis. Early Application deadline is February 4, 2019. Accepted applicants will receive a $300 tuition discount.
