The Foundation for Teaching Economics is now accepting applications from academically motivated student leaders for the following programs:
Economic for Leaders (EFL)
In its 29th year, EFL teaches rising juniors and seniors to integrate economics into decision making. This selective program introduces participants to key economic concepts and leadership theory. The program premise: Future leaders must understand economics.
Entrepreneurship in the Global Economy (EGE)
Offered on Yale University’s campus, EGE goes beyond what most pre-college entrepreneurship programs teach. Participants not only learn practical skills, like writing a business plan or pitching an idea, but also about the economic principles that make successful entrepreneurship possible.
Economic History for Leaders (EHFL)
EHFL is a cross-curricular program designed for students with a passion for history, civics, or economics. Designed with the understanding that leaders must appreciate history to make effective decisions, students learn to use the economic way of thinking to better understand pivotal events in American history.
At all programs, instruction focuses on key economic concepts and the leadership skills needed to succeed in college and beyond. Economics professors, guest speakers, and leadership facilitators bring a wide breadth of knowledge to the classroom, providing students with an enriching and challenging experience. Participants learn to apply the "economic way of thinking" and build an understanding of practical leadership skills through engaging lessons, activities, and creative decision-making challenges.
College credit is available.
Admission is competitive, with decisions based on an applicant’s leadership potential, maturity, and vision of their future. Above all, participants are intelligent and articulate students who will benefit from this unique educational experience.
Programs are open to rising high school juniors and seniors (class of 2020 or 2021). Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with admission decisions rendered within three weeks of submission. 30 - 40 students are accepted at each program.
