Riverview School is a independent, co-educational day/boarding school for students with complex language and learning challenges.
Riverview School educates adolescents and young adults (ages 11 - 22) who share a common history of lifelong difficulty with academic achievement and the development of friendships. (The cognitive ability of the Riverview student falls between 65-90 on the WISC.) Many of our students have "fallen through the cracks" in previous settings, both socially and academically. Likewise, they often have not experienced success — in school, in sports, or in social settings. Our goal is to take these students "off the bench and put them into the game" by providing them with typical teenage experiences.
The students who enroll at Riverview are commited and ready for the "whole" experience — ready to improve their academic skills, increase their independence, develop life skills, play sports or try new activities and make friends. Our programs are designed to promote self-esteem and increase self-confidence through a wide variety of success-oriented experiences.
