Rosie's Place was founded in 1974 as the first women’s shelter in the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that helps poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity and find security in their lives.

Volunteers must be 12 or older and children aged 12-15 may help out in the dining room if they are accompanied by an adult who is also a registered Rosie’s Place volunteer.

Individual Volunteers: Volunteer to serve meals, work in our food pantry, teach a class or connect with women in the community.

Group Volunteers: We offer opportunities in Boston for work teams, school and faith-based groups, friends, families and community organizations.
