The Jewish Relief Agency brings together individuals of all means, ages and backgrounds to address our community’s physical, social and spiritual needs, satisfying our unique desire to take care of each other and do good in the world. Built on the foundation of our monthly food distribution, our programs relieve the pangs of hunger, bring meaning to our recipients and volunteers, and build a caring and connected community.
JRA's work is fueled by our volunteers who serve those in need in a variety of ways, including packing and delivering a boxes of food to members of our community. All of our volunteers, who come from many backgrounds, ages, and abilities, are united by a commitment to helping those in need and strengthening our shared community. Through community service, JRA nourishes body and soul.
Once a month, JRA volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities meet at our Northeast Philly warehouse to pack and then deliver boxes of nutritious kosher food to over 6,000 low-income individuals and families. During this time, volunteers will pack 3,200 boxes of food, including fresh produce, for families in need. In addition to the standard food box, volunteers also pack family friendly food bags and toiletries for some of our recipients.
