    Overview

Families for Depression Awareness is a national nonprofit organization helping families recognize and cope with depressive disorders, get well, and prevent suicides.

We count on volunteers like you to help us raise awareness, share resources, and fight the stigma around depression and bipolar disorder.

Our Peer Storyteller Program provides teens and young adults (ages 14-26) with opportunities to share their personal stories of living with depression or bipolar disorder. These stories are shared in schools and communities to encourage other young people to seek help. They dispel misconceptions about people affected by mood disorders, alleviate the social stigma around mental health issues, and encourage help-seeking by those who may be having difficulties.

Teens ages 13 and up from around the nation can also get involved by joining the Teen Instagram Committee.

Other ways to volunteer include the Social Media Street Team Committee, hosting a fundraising event, helping with event planning, and more!
