    Overview

YPI Summer Camp for the Creative Arts is a two-week, coed, residential program for young people ages 10-18 who wish to explore with Master Teachers their passion for writing and the visual and performing arts.

Founded in 1981 and housed at the Suffield Academy in Suffield, Connecticut, YPI, Inc. (formerly the Young People’s Institute) is a two-week long co-educational residential summer camp for the creative arts. YPI exists to create a safe and inspirational environment where children of diverse backgrounds and skill levels can feel free to create, explore, grow, and share their talents under the thoughtful guidance of professional artists and caring staff.

YPI seeks to produce an environment of cooperative learning for the young people it serves. Workshops are offered in Photography (digital and darkroom), Multimedia Visual Arts, Writing, Musical Theater, Acting, Dance, and Songwriting. YPI is not just a place, it's a state of mind."

    • I am lucky enough to have experienced YPI for the past 15 years. First as a camper, then as a counselor, and now as a teacher. Throughout each of these roles, YPI has served as a creative outlet, a place for me to grow, and more importantly, a second home. As someone who now works in a creative field, I can attest that I would not have the perspective and ability to do what I do without the experience I have had at YPI. It is a place that makes you feel safe enough to push yourself out of your comfort zone, in all senses. To this day, I have not met a more caring, supportive, present community, and for that, I am forever grateful. Sasha Moraski

    • YPI has always called to Sarah even when her nights were hard as a child. And now, nothing can keep her from being there. She treasures you and Sal and all the others who have been by her side as she grew up. What better testament to YPI could there be than the fact she will always, always be there for you, for her, for Ciana, and for the program. She will always return to her place of love and comfort. I cannot ever repay you and YPI for the strength Sarah has. Thank you.
