    Overview

Join a summer camp in Kenya and engage in sustainable tourism in a wildlife reserve. You will be working in the savannah, protecting the environment, ecological monitoring, tracking, etc. You will also experience cultural immersion as you interact with the local communities.

Due to wildlife being a very important part of Kenya's economy, sustainable tourism has undergone significant developments. Isolated communities often live in very close proximity to the wildlife. As civilization develops, humanity and the wildlife often clash and animals are driven out of their natural habitats. As a result, various associations have created conservation areas in order to promote a healthy coexistence between wildlife and the local communities. This program takes place in one such area.

In addition to working on the project, you will engage in a variety of activities, such as Swahili language lessons, national park visits, cooking lessons, boat trips, excursions to waterfalls and other famous sites, etc. Coupled with your work with local communities, this program offers valuable opportunities for cultural immersion.

This program is for 15-17 year olds. Included are all projects and activities, accommodation in shared rooms, return trip airport transfer, orientation and training, all meals, local transportation, dedicated group coordinator and 24/7 emergency assistance. On the project, you will be accompanied by a wildlife specialist who will train you in everything you need to know. Not included are international/local flights, any personal expenses or additional excursions and insurance. Travel and health insurance is required to participate.
