Explore the issues that impact the world, make headlines, and are important to you. Summer Academy gives students the opportunity to pursue their passions and learn from New York Times journalists and other thought leaders who bring real-world expertise into the classroom. Our courses help students develop their intellectual curiosity.

Summer Academy is open to high school students (entering grades 10-12 and graduating seniors). Students must be at least 15 years old by the first day of their term. All students new to Summer Academy are required to complete an online application.

Each Summer Academy course draws on the current global cultural landscape and industry insight to provide students with in-depth explorations of subjects that impact the world and make headlines.

Course Options Include:

Photojournalism as Art

Introduction to Investigative Journalism

Writing the Big City: Reporting in New York

Filmmaking and Video Storytelling in a Social Media Age

Reporting on Style and Fashion

And many more!! 

Program Duration

Two-week programs throughout June and July; students may enroll in more than one term.

Students who enroll in multiple terms are eligible for a $500 discount on each term.

Admissions

Requires the completion of an online application and submission of supplementary materials.

Tuition

$5,935 for Day students; $7,265 for Residential students. Tuition is based on a two-week course.

Housing & Dining

Students in the residential program live in dorm-like facilities at a university in the heart of New York City. ?Dining halls are able to accommodate a range of dietary restrictions.
