In our Summer Institute, SEGL students immerse themselves in our Ethics and Leadership curriculum, completing the full semester of coursework in the six-week program based in DC. Students visit think tanks, NGOs, and government offices; meet with DC-based leaders and experts; and enhance their public speaking, debate, and collaborative skills.
This six-week residential program immerses students in an intensive Ethics and Leadership curriculum that goes far beyond traditional summer programs.

Curriculum and Learning Experience
Students engage in a comprehensive program that includes:
- Ethics and Leadership coursework
- Visits to think tanks, NGOs, and government offices
- Interactions with distinguished guest speakers
- Opportunities to explore iconic sites in their city
Capstone Projects
By the end of the summer, participants will develop three significant projects:
- An ethical Credo
- A collaborative policy document
- A social venture business plan

SEGL welcomes students from diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and perspectives, united by a shared commitment to making positive change in the world.
Students must have access to a bank account containing $320 for incidental/personal expenses. All programs have a $315 Textbooks and Travel fee to pay for course materials and transportation around the city. Transportation to and from the program at the beginning and end of the program is the responsibility of each student’s family. We consider both incidental and transportation costs when calculating financial aid awards.
