    Overview

Discover the world of veterinary medicine and animal science through hands-on camps that explore lab work, research, and field care. Gain real-world experience and insight into the career journey, helping you decide if a degree in veterinary medicine or animal science is right for you.

Camps are offered at Tarleton State University (entering grades 9-12), Texas A&M University (entering grades 10-12, or 15 years old at start of camp), and West Texas A&M University (entering grades 9-12). As space is limited to 30 students per session, we suggest applying to all camp locations that you are interested in.

While each camp offers its own unique experiences, we strive to provide students with opportunities to interact with animals and participate in activities they would not typically encounter in their daily lives. Every camp incorporates a large-animal component, giving students hands-on exposure to species such as horses and cows. The specific activities and animal interactions vary by location, as each site has access to different facilities, resources, and species. This diversity ensures that no two camps are exactly alike, allowing students to gain a broader perspective on veterinary medicine and animal science. For this reason, we encourage participants to explore multiple camp locations, if possible, to maximize their exposure to the wide range of opportunities available within the field.
