For pre-professional and professional dancers age 16 and older, the Summer Dance Institute 2021 at OHIO University offers a two-week, in-person intensive workshop with Ohio-based company Dayton Contemporary Dance Company and faculty from the School of Dance. We are also offering a virtual option for students who cannot travel to our Athens, OH campus.
students will have the exciting opportunity to study with DCDC company founder Debbie Blunden-Diggs, Associate Artistic Director Crystal Perkins, and company members in beautiful Athens, Ohio.
DCDC will offer daily classes in technique, composition, and repertory, culminating in a new student work performed in the Shirley Wimmer Dance Theater. Students will have the opportunity to engage with the company on a personal and professional level, attend rehearsals, and see the company perform their newest work-in-progress.
Students will also learn crucial skills to prepare them for a successful career in the arts, including resume writing, audition skills, how to manage your digital profile, and options for making a successful career in the arts.
