For 51 years Slide Ranch has welcomed Bay Area youth and been a cornerstone of Marin’s environmental conservation and education movement. We recognize that we have an important role to play as stewards of federally protected land, organic farmers and ranchers, and environmental educators. Now more than ever children need to be outdoors, for their mental, emotional and physical health, and we feel fortunate to be able to provide an inspirational place for them to explore and thrive.
Slide Ranch Summer Camps are an exciting way to light up any young person’s summer, offering nature connection and safe, outdoor play in small cooperative groups. Our camps provide unique, hands-dirty opportunities for experiential learning, growth, and fun - all at our working ranch on the stunning West Marin coast. Camper groups are led by a Slide Ranch environmental educator (Teacher-in-Residence). Each camp week is filled with creative, hands-on activities and imbued with the ethic of environmental stewardship. Campers observe goat milking and help run the herd out to pasture, care for our chickens and ducks, hike Slide Ranch’s wild land trails, explore tide pools, get crafty with wool and nature, tend and harvest our organic garden, enjoy farm fresh food, learn about plant and animal ecosystems, and more.
This engaging experience will spark a life-long appreciation of the outdoors in your child, and help them explore how people and the environment are connected. The Slide Ranch landscape offers a rich variety of ecosystems, from native plants and animals in the coastal scrub to the rocky intertidal zones of the coast, at the edge of the continent! We also represent the edge where the wildlands meet human habitation and agriculture, with a herd of goats and sheep on pasture, bee hives, chickens and ducks, and an organic garden. These environments naturally inspire wonder, curiosity and myriad opportunities for inspiration and learning.
