Intensive Riding Camp (IRC) offers a small group of girls, ages 14-18, the opportunity to develop effective riding strategies for hunt seat competition in Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) and Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) events.
At the Intensive Riding Camp (IRC), we admit riders who can jump at least 2’6” on unfamiliar horses, ride without stirrups, and run coursework on indoor and outdoor rings.
IRC participants have a very active schedule including lessons, classroom education, and hands-on learning in the stables. The program includes discussion about nutrition, fitness, horse care, stable management, and equipment. Lessons are run in a group format and offer the opportunity for riders to change mounts several times.
The program is supervised by Stoneleigh-Burnham School Director of Riding Mina Payne Williams. Mina has been named one of the 50 top riding instructors in the U.S. by the American Riding Instructor Association. The Stoneleigh-Burnham IEA Team has won 4 National Championships. Participants ride and train with the professional staff of the Stoneleigh-Burnham Equestrian Center.
