Summer dance students receive specialized, age-appropriate mentorship by Mason Gross School of the Arts faculty. A residential option for the Summer Dance Conservatory allows high school students an early taste of on-campus college life. Participants make use of the professional facilities of the Mason Gross Dance Department for classes and performances.
Rutgers Summer Dance Conservatory (ages 14-18)
Dancers interested in a collegiate-level atmosphere experience a rigorous daily schedule of diverse movement practices within African Diasporic forms, Classical/Traditional forms, Contemporary Fusion forms and Somatic forms. The expansive training in a variety of movement practices aims to develop and broaden skills that are reflective of the ever-changing field of Dance. Daily improvisation and choreography classes engage in the practice of movement exploration and dance-making culminating in student choreography to perform in a fully produced, end-of-session showcase.
