    Overview

Start your best summer in Europe with Prague Summer Schools.

Prague Summer Schools are week-long academic programs, organized annually by SCHOLA EMPIRICA, a Prague-based NGO, divided into four thematic programs:

    - Crime, Law, and Psychology

    - Development, Sustainability, and Globalization

    - Education: The Future of School

    - Behavioral Economics and Psychology

Prague Summer Schools were launched more than 20 years ago, with the aim of bringing together motivated undergraduate and graduate students of various academic backgrounds coming from different parts of the world to enjoy their holidays in a unique learning and cultural environment. International academics and practitioners join together with Prague Summer Schools management staff to ensure that each summer school tackles important real-world problems from social, economic, and political perspectives.

We aim to contribute to an understanding of crucial contemporary challenges while fostering international dialogue. We founded Prague Summer Schools because we believe that the exchange of views among individuals coming from different academic and cultural backgrounds, based on high-quality information provided during lectures, greatly develops the understanding of internationally relevant issues and may have a significant impact on the world’s future.

Prague Summer Schools aim to increase the students’ understanding of competing opinions and relevant research about the topic of their choice, allowing them to form their own critical understanding of the addressed issues. Students may choose one among the following programs:

Prague Summer Schools on Crime Law and Psychology is designed to provide students with advanced knowledge about the application of psychological approaches and research methods in the processes and practices of the criminal justice system.

The Prague Summer Schools on Behavioral Economics and Psychology offer students a unique opportunity to learn about the implications of behavioral research for policy-making, as well as its practical applications in the realm of organizational management. In order to better understand research methods, the participants will design and conduct their own experiments under the supervision of the lecturers.

The Prague Summer School on Education: The Future of School will address the issues of effective teaching and mediating knowledge in the current world. We will investigate the role of the teachers, explore the new trends in teaching, and look into their effectiveness. We will also examine how other social agents – parents, tutors, and peers – (may) contribute to the education process.

The Prague Summer School on Development, Sustainability, and Globalization will provide students with a deeper understanding of development challenges by addressing political, economic, technological, and environmental aspects related to development cooperation.

Many students participating in our program counted our summer schools towards their degrees, usually receiving 3-4 ECTS.  Students who wish to receive credits for attending a summer school need to negotiate the number of credits with their home university. We can provide those who are interested with a confirmation of completion of the program.
