The Nelly Berman School of Music provides a serious, well-rounded musical education in a fun-oriented and nurturing environment that engages the students and their families. The founding spirit of the Russian tradition of musical excellence Nelly Berman brought from Russia to Haverford lives on today in the practice rooms of our students and continues to inspire our community.
SUMMER MUSIC BOOT CAMP
Join us for fun with classical music in-person this summer! Campers are expected to practice 1.5 hours a day – with NBS faculty offering coaching during practice sessions – with the goal of learning and perfecting a piece in one week! This piece would then be presented in a concert on the last day of camp.
Students will also study the fundamentals of music through music theory, history, and composition using computer notation software with Dr. Ariane Alexander and Dr. Jean-Francois Proulx, and participate in Performance Classes led by Elena Berman every other day.
RENAISSANCE AND BAROQUE
Students will focus on music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods with Dr. Anna Kislitsyna, and participate in Performance Classes led by Elena Berman every other day.
