    Overview

Students will join a professional staff to brainstorm, write, design, compose, choreograph and produce an original work of musical theatre – all in one week. What will the show be about? It’s up to the group! Lovewell workshops are a singular experience, unlike any other you’ve been a part of in the past.

We are looking for a diverse group of Kansas students who are entering high school through freshmen in college to join a professional staff of artists and educators and share their collective stories. In doing so, one, solid, unified piece of theatre with music is born. This experience is about the creative process, and while the performance is an enormous part of our workshop, the focus is on the days of creation. We need writers, actors, poets, dreamers, singers, visual artists, composers, musicians, designers and creative people of all types. Build on the skills you already have and flex your creative muscles by learning some new ones – at Lovewell, everybody gets to do a little bit of everything.!

Since 1989, Lovewell Institute has been conducting workshops in cities around the world including: New York, Chicago, Riverside, California; Key West, Marathon, Boca Raton, Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Salina and Kansas City, Kansas; Dayton and Carrolton, Ohio; Las Vegas, Nevada; Oskarshamn, Linköping, Lomma, Malmö and Stockholm, Sweden; and St. Petersburg, Russia.

Throughout these workshops, we have created over 70 original shows and 700 original songs, and transformed thousands of lives. Our original shows have been performed by high schools across America and Sweden and have received the highest state honors at Thespian Festivals. Lovewell Institute and the Lovewell Method have also been the subject of *two doctoral dissertations, numerous journal articles and several documentaries.

Our staff is comprised of working professional artists and educational experts that have incorporated the vital aspects of problem-based learning and constructivism into the creative process. Our staff artists teach at prestigious universities, direct professional productions, tour with rock bands, conduct orchestras, own recording studios, write and produce their own shows, design for major companies and believe whole heartily that sharing creativity is the best gift that they can give back to the world.
