    Overview

Keshet offers various eight-week, full-day integrated camp options. By mainstreaming Keshet children into existing Jewish camps, Keshet provides opportunities for children with developmental disabilities that no one else does.

Keshet's summer camp and extended school year programs -- some of which include transportation -- serve participants ages 3-21 and are located in Chicago area and its surrounding suburbs as well as Wisconsin. Keshet families can choose from over 14 camps to best suit their child's interests and needs. The state-of-the-art programs offer a well-rounded functional summer with an emphasis on maintenance of goals achieved throughout the school year.

    Day Camps

Keshet has a wide network of partners that welcome our campers throughout Chicago and its northern suburbs -- the "Z" Frank Apachi Day Camp in Northbrook, “E” Frank Apachi Day Camp in Lake Zurich and Apachi South at the University of Illinois-Chicago; Mayer Kaplan JCC in Skokie; Bernard Horwich JCC in Chicago; Bernard Weinger JCC/Apachi Village in Northbrook; and Ramah Day Camp in Wheeling.

Campers register through Keshet, which then hires, trains and supervises staff to work in the larger camp group setting. Careful planning, ability awareness programs for typical campers and counselors, and ongoing problem-solving with host site staff allows full integration of Keshet campers.

The Special Kids Network Teen Camp

Held at Niles North High School in Skokie, Keshet campers (ages 11 through 21) may participate in an eight-week, age-appropriate program highlighting fun summer activities and engaging community trips, while at the same time, focusing on increasing levels of autonomy.

A special part of Teen Camp is the opportunity to experience the fun of overnight camp at the Perlstein vacation resort, located on the grounds of Camp Chi in Lake Delton, Wisconsin.

The Ruben Family Keshet Overnight Camp at Moshava and Camp Chi Overnight

Keshet's Overnight Camps offer an integrated overnight experience for campers with special needs. Options range from one to four weeks. Focused on developing strong peer-to-peer relationships and an environment of interdependence, Keshet campers sleep in cabins, share meals and participate in camp activities with their typically-developing peers.

Programs generally run from June through August and take place at: The Ruben Family Keshet Overnight Camp at Moshava in Wild Rose, Wisconsin; JCC's Camp Chi in Lake Delton, Wisconsin; and B'nai B'rith Beber Camp in Mukwonago, Wisconsin.

A unique element of Keshet's overnight camp experience is the Keshet Avodah Corps at Camp Chi, which gives older teens and young adults the opportunity to participate in work-related activities.
