    Overview

    Students will learn to use digital fabrication and carpentry tools to develop the next big thing for man’s best friend.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Understand and implement design-thinking process
    • Learning basic CAD and 3D modeling
    • Learn and operate the three major rapid-prototyping tools (3D printer, laser cutter, and CNC router)

    Example Activities:

    • Conduct market research, including surveying pet owners and touring a pet store
    • Ideation, including deciding what is missing from the marketplace and then sketching it out on paper
    • Develop a prototype, including using tools within the Idea Shop to transform each student’s sketch into a built product that will be tested by live animals
