    Overview

From the peaceful temples and old walled city of Chiang Mai to the world-renowned temples; the mountainous jungles of northern Thailand to the clear ocean waters of the country’s famed islands and beaches, this program brings you to Thailand to explore topics of tradition, globalization, and human rights while discovering the warmth and hospitality of these unique cultures.

    WHO WE ARE

We offer students the unparalleled opportunity to immerse themselves in small rural communities, develop deep and mutually fulfilling cross-cultural relationships, and make positive contributions that last for generations.

Our students work side by side with local hosts on projects selected and prioritized by the community. Global Routes student groups have constructed schools, health clinics, and community centers in rural communities around the world. From irrigation projects in the high Peruvian desert to stream clean-ups in the Costa Rican rainforest to Friendship Camps in the mountains of Lesotho, our students roll up their sleeves and find joy in the reward of hard work, camaraderie, and authentic cross-cultural learning.

    SUMMER IN THAILAND

    • Trek in the mountainous jungle of Northern Thailand, and witness firsthand the realities of hill tribe communities. Live with our family partners in remote hill-tribe communities, learning local customs, culture, and tradition, and the impacts of globalization.
    • Live and volunteer on a Thai-owned organic farm, learning about permaculture and localized food systems and how they relate to self-sufficiency and community empowerment.
    • Earn your PADI diving certification in one of the world's best spots for diving.
