    Overview

This camp will introduce middle school students to the technical skills involved in video production. Campers will be divided into production groups and will cover pre-production, production, and post-production fundamentals.

Videos will tackle topics from a variety of local options and each group will choose what interests them. Middle school students will learn basic digital camera skills and editing in Final Cut Studio. Fundamental skills covered will include introductions to composition and framing, exposure, lighting, sound design, interviewing, essential editing basics, and post-production finishing.

Guest speakers will visit from Duke’s Center for Documentary Studies and Arts of the Moving Image and will elaborate on several of the concepts taught and will give higher-level insights.
